I am Caryl Ayearst and I call myself a Sleep Journey Coach because that is what it takes to get back to sleep.  It is a journey to bring the body back into balance that works to help promote sleep.  I have certification as Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Sleep, Stress & Recovery Coach, Functional Hormone and Functional Microbiome Educator, Master NLP Coach, Hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. 

It all starts in the heart when you know and want to make changes.  When you align your body, mind and spirit you will feel better, sleep better and live in health.  This is what happened to me.

I neglected myself.  I thought working hard was the ultimate reward.  I ate what I wanted, drank what I wanted, hated to do cardio exercise, travelled a lot, took up hobbies in my spare time while working full time and on call for the most part.  I made darn sure I was busy all the time.  I thrived on stress.   And I paid for that with my health with different ailments like obesity, osteo-arthritis, osteoporosis, Hashimoto’s and the worst case of insomnia.  I felt like I never slept.

It was the insomnia that finally prompted me to change.  I would do anything to get to sleep – except sleeping pills!  I changed my diet, my lifestyle, hired a personal trainer, despite painful knees, I learned to exercise and learned to slow down and relax.

The effects on me were so profound.  I lost a lot of weight, I felt better, no more brain fog, clear thinking, renewed energy, my knees were not so sore and best of all, I started to get to sleep.

When I began to feel better and started to sleep, just from changing my diet, I became fascinated about the dynamics of eating the right food had on me.  This is why I decided to go back to school – I wanted to know more about the power of food.  I graduated from the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition in 2012.  I then went on to study NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Hypnotherapy and finished all levels by 2016 to help understand the power of our thoughts and how it affected behaviour.  I wanted to change my inner critical voice to one of empowerment.  Along the way, I became intrigued with energy work and learned Reiki in 2016 and became a Reiki Master/Teacher in 2018.  At the core of so many issues women suffer from is the inability to sleep and in 2022 studied with Precision Nutrition’s program Sleep, Stress and Recovery Coach.  I wanted more tools on how to coach and help women get back to sleep.  And I took a deep dive into learning more about hormones (2021) and the role of our microbiome (2022) and how that affects women’s health and sleep because they are a big part in getting back to sleep.

I continue to learn and offer services to help women get back to sleep naturally.
