Oh the joys of having a solid night’s sleep. And yet it seems elusive to so many of us. In fact Statistics Canada reports that 1/3 of adult Canadians do not get the recommended hours of sleep nor quality of sleep. Now that is a lot of people!
Not sleeping well is one of the biggest complaints I hear from my clients or in talking to people about nutrition. It is either the inability to get to sleep or stay asleep or wake up and unable to get back to sleep or in some cases, all of it.
Insufficient sleep can result in health issues like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, fatigue and just plain old grumpiness. I think most of us know that some of the things we do directly relate to our lack of sleep. Things like caffeine, alcohol, diet, lack of exercise or spending way too much time on our digital screens including the TV. Having the motivation to change that can be an issue for people. What is the lack of sleep costing you?
I know that was what prompted me to change everything in my life. When I barely slept, it motivated me to change. And that led me to being able to sleep, to reducing the pain in my knees and the joy of losing 50 pounds. This experience is why I went back to school to study nutrition and enter the world of entrepreunership. It was that impactful.
I know that we personally have the ability to improve our health. The issue is how and the motivation to do it. Because I believe so strongly in getting a good night’s sleep, I have created a 12 week transformational online coaching program to help get you to sleep. This program is about getting to sleep naturally and primarily geared to midlife women who are not finding solutions to help with their sleep issues.
When I could not sleep, I tried so many things and I was doing it blindly – try this – then try that. It was so frustrating that there was not one place to go and find what to do. It took me years to find what worked for me. This motivated me to create something where all the ways and things to do to help with sleep would be in one place.
I have decided that my nutritional newsletter will now only be once a month and I will begin a weekly newsletter devoted to sleep.
